“To
proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so
that we may present everyone perfect in Christ.”
- Colossians 1:28.

The History and Purpose of GBI
The
concept of an institute that equips believers for service grew
initially out of the specific desire that the shepherds of Grace shared
to train their own members who might approach them with a call from God
to fulltime Christian service and was regarded as a great means to
fulfill their charge to entrust the doctrines of God’s Word “to
reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others” (2 Timothy
2:2). Equipping is what the local church should be doing because God
has specifically outfitted it for such a task, and not just members for
fulltime ministry, but every member “for works of service, so that the
body of Christ may be built up” (Ephesians 4:12). What better
training ground is there for this sacred task than the local church?
After much discussion and prayer, the Grace Bible Institute was
established with the goal in mind simply “to proclaim him, admonishing
and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone
perfect in Christ” (Colossians 1:28).
Those who might benefit from GBI?
If
you are a member of a local church who wants to deepen your knowledge
of God’s Word, strengthen your Christian walk, and increase your
effectiveness in ministry, you might find that GBI is just what you
need.
If you are a member of a local church who believes
that God might be calling you to a level of spiritual leadership or
even fulltime Christian service, you can use your time at GBI as part
of the confirmation process.
If you are a member of a
local church who has received a call from God to pursue the pastorate,
fulltime missions, or some other fulltime Christian service, GBI can
help. We offer a Certificate of Completion for all those who
complete the program and ordination for those men from within our own
church who complete the ordination track.
Pastors,
missionaries, and those in fulltime Christian service who need a
refresher may find themselves sufficiently stimulated, challenged, and
greatly encouraged by the program.
